Job Summary

Responsible for managing the company’s manufacturing engineering function and activities across two (2) international manufacturing plants (Buena Park & Tijuana) to ensure customer satisfaction and requirements, maximize efficiency, minimize production costs with the highest quality and safety standards and facilitate the introduction of new product to the production floor.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Advise Management on Engineering problems and provide assistance to the President and the leadership team by using Statistical and Engineering techniques and tools such as: SPC, DOE, FMEA, TQM, TPM JIT, etc.
  • Manage and coach employees within the Manufacturing Engineering team in Buena Park and Tijuana by;
  • Establishing clear objectives in line with the Business Unit goals

    o Responsible for selecting, training, motivating, developing and acting as a
    facilitator to the Engineering staff. Also Responsible for promoting and

  • Collaborate with design engineering to consider manufacturability of new products during the initial design phase
  • Coordinate with a cross-functional team to ensure a smooth entry into production for newly designed products, driving high quality and minimizing cost
  • Formulate, Negotiate and Manage the Department’s Objectives and Budget, as well as the Strategy and Action Plans to achieve the Objectives.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement (C/I)
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of subordinates to facilitate the implementation and operation of the Company’s Engineering Systems.
  • Leads manufacturing engineering projects, incorporates technologies, resolves engineering problems.
  • Checks engineering designs to ensure compliance with the customer’s requirements, to engineering principles and the standards of the organization. Validates and authorizes Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to the Engineering Department.
  • Directs manufacturing engineering staff in the formulation of blueprints, designs, cost estimates and specifications.
  • Supervises and conducts investigations and special studies to evaluate the efficiency of the engineering programs.
  • Participates as a member of the managerial team in the development and implementation of new products.
  • Manages the manufacturing engineering standards library and ECN (Engineering Change Notice) system administration.
  • Interacts with the following department:
    o Marketing for developing new Products.
    o Quality and Production to improve reliability and to reduce the costs of current products.
    o Customer Support to ensure that customers receive complete and timely answers to their Inquiries.


Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent experience with emphasis on high mix, low volume production.
  • Strong Mechanical and Industrial Engineering background, working on solving complex material, design for manufacturability and process issues.
  • 5+ years of experience leading product, process, project, manufacturing or quality engineering teams.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering managing the following processes/techniques: Soldering, electromechanical assemblies, tumbling, deburring, tooling, welding, plating, heat-treatment, cleaning procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Systems, TPS Lean Manufacturing, MRP, New Product Introduction Process, Six Sigma, Project Management, ISO/QS, Environmental and Safety Standards, etc…
  • Requires Leadership, Negotiating and Team Building Skills.
  • Skills in CAD, Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio.
  • Expected to travel domestically and internationally (mainly Mexico) with short notice on occasions up to 25% of the time.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with the application of Statistical Process Control tools
  • Familiar with relevant Military and Industry Standards
  • Familiar with variance analysis and design of experiments (DOE)
  • Working knowledge of key lean manufacturing principles and applications
  • Aerospace industry experience
